Warrawong Warriors @ Uni Futsal – Game 6
9-3 Loss (Dean 2 goals, Rob 1 Goal)
Decimated by Absenteeism (Mike & Brian), sickness (Rob) and injury (Nathan), we put in a stellar performance against a much younger energetic and over confident team. Leading 2-0 mid-way through the first half with goals to Dean and Rob, we were defending stoutly and attacking quickly – surprising our highly rated opponents! Nathan succumbed to an early heel injury after 2 minutes and played no further part in the game, leaving no subs. Hard.Times .Ahead
Still we defended well and conceded a soft goal right on half-time. Leading 2-1 going into the break has us looking good but we knew it would be a hard slog.
We held out for about 3 minutes, but then we grew tired. 5-2 down very quickly. Rob – suffering from Streptococcus ran out of energy but still supplied a quick ball from a free-kick for the ever-energetic Dean to slot home. The Ref disallowed it but with a chat after the game, the organiser said he would think about it. We’ll count it regardless.
Alas, the floodgates opened and we all needed to pick up our effort in getting back and tackling, getting stuck in at all costs. 9-3 to finish off, but we should be proud of the effort and determination especially in the 1st half.
Cam did well in goals keeping out many certain goals, Isaac making a debut on the field and Jonathan played well in the first half, but fitness levels deteriorated (like everyone’s) in the 2nd half. Very good game all round from everyone involved.
