Public gatherings cancelled

I’ve just been informed the Archbishop has cancelled ALL public gatherings until further notice. For our circumstances, this includes: church, Bible studies, youth and kids groups, EFL, and Friendship group, Community Builders. I’m researching livestreaming options.
Here is part of his letter:
I call on all Christians to pray for health workers and those seeking to develop a vaccine, and to pray that the spread of this disease may slow. God’s love for all people has not diminished, nor his sovereignty over his world. Therefore, I urge all Christians to continue to trust in God’s goodness and mercy in this crisis, and to show Christ’s love to those affected.
All church services going ahead as normal (as at 14 March)

We have implemented safety proceedures for the handling of food and drink.
We have gloves and tongs for food servers.
We will not be using the Common Cup for the Lord’s Supper.
Please refrain from hugging/kissing one another. You may be OK about it, but others may not. (This is a way to show brotherly love).
Please stay away if you are sick, or at risk of developing complications from the CoronaVirus.
Welcoming the Kinstead’s

This morning and all this week, we warmly welcome Robin and Sarah Kinstead, along with their children Nathaniel and Rebecca to our fellowship. The Kinstead’s are our CMS missionaries about to heed the call of our heavenly father, and go out into the world for Jesus.
Our church is a “link church” which means supporting, praying, caring, giving, encouraging and helping them serve Christ in the mission field. It’s my fervent prayer this week that you would get to know Robin & Sarah (along with NJ and Becca) such that you join with them as partners in the gospel. That you would be more equipped to pray, to care, and to give for their work through CMS.
Please take any opportunity to get to know them and their kids this week.

I read a line this week that stuck with me:
Jesus came “to call sinners to repentance.” The church is offended that He calls sinners. The world is offended He calls for repentance.
The world, these days, wants affirmation for every choice, activity and decision, including what past generations would have called vices. When they don’t get it, results in offence. The church is offended that Jesus calls sinners. We’re not sinners, we cry!
Jesus is offensive because of how inclusive He is AND how exclusive He is. The church is offended by His inclusivity, and the world is offended by His exclusivity. We are inclined to weaken the offense, either by minimizing His inclusive call or by downplaying His exclusive claims. Unfortunately, whenever we lop off one side or the other, we wind up with a Jesus in our own image. Instead, we should celebrate both Jesus’ inclusiveness and His exclusiveness, for this makes Jesus so irresistibly compelling.

Combined Church at Warrawong Anglican Church at 9am at 282 Cowper St Warrawong. There is no church gathering at Port Kembla.
This new summer time is for the following Sundays: 29 Dec, 5 Jan*, 12 Jan, 19 Jan*, 26 Jan.
* denotes we’ll be celebrating the Lord’s Supper
