Good morning and welcome to church,
Recently I’ve been involved in two events that received significant media coverage, and in both cases the media got the story entirely wrong. Not just minor details around the edge, but the entire story being factually incorrect. Whilst there are significant time constraints in publishing, and these must be taken into account, it appears the media has an agenda. This includes misrepresentation or reporting untruth in order to promote their own agenda (which could be financial interests), or simply lies about Christianity, Churches, or Christian organisations. Whilst this should not surprise us, it should sadden us, and drive us to our knees in prayer for truthfulness in reporting and the media. Please will you join me in praying for our media. To this end there is a suggested prayer on the inside of the bulletin.

From the Minister – 11 Nov
Good morning and welcome to church,
Today marks the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War 1, where in a railway carriage in the forests of France, an armistice was signed to come into effect 6 hours later on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Countries around the globe enjoy freedom as a result of the sacrifices of military and medical personnel from past eras. For many years, this day was known as Armistice Day, but changed at the end of World War 2. It is now known as Remembrance Day, as we remember the sacrifices of military personnel, medical practitioners, and families generally. This year will be the 99th consecutive year of remembering the sacrifices of generations past. The second Remembrance Day (in 1920) doubled as a funeral for the unknown soldier, whose remains were brought back from the Western Front to commemorate the nearly 4 million soldiers in unmarked graves—a moving tribute indeed! However, we serve a King who brought perfect peace, at great cost to himself, and who needed no grave, since he is risen. Praise Jesus! Reverend Michael Turner.
Parenting Course
We are running a parenting course for anyone who wishes to attend, although bookings are essential. It runs for five Mondays, between 7pm-9pm, beginning Monday 30 July and running through Monday 27 August. Please contact us if you would like to attend. Numbers strictly limited.

Mark Drama
The Mark Drama is on at Warrawong Anglican Church on Sunday 25th March at 6pm. It’s a free event, but bookings are essential. It’s acted by local actors from Wollongong and promises to be a great night.

Due to our Annual General Meeting, there is no church at Port Kembla on Sunday 25 February.
Combined church at Warrawong, 9am. All welcome.
At the conclusion of church, we’ll take 15 minutes to grab a cuppa, and begin our AGM.
All people who worship and attend St Stephen’s Port Kembla and St Andrew’s Warrawong are welcome to participate in the AGM.
2018 Scripture Teachers
Please pray for our 2018 Scripture teachers in our various schools within our parish. They are Rob, Tim, Matt, Annette, Nicola, Ness, Nada, Dawn.
Pray that our heavenly father would give them the words to say, knowledge of the gospel in clear and simple phrases, and a life that matches their doctrine. Every week, these saints head into our local schools to teach kids about Jesus. Praise God, and pray for them.
